Be Prepared: Recruitment Questions

Questions Sorority Members May Ask You: 

  • Where are you from? What’s your hometown?
  • What dorm are you in?
  • What classes are you taking?
  • Do you have a major already?
  • Did you have a fun summer? Did you travel? What did you do this summer?
  • How are you enjoying rush/recruitment?
  • Have you met your roommate yet? How are you enjoying your roommate?
  • How are you enjoying your first week of school so far?
  • What led you to <this university>?  How did you chose <school>?
  •  What do you like to do in your free time? What are your hobbies?
  • Are you familiar with sorority life?
  •  Why are you going through recruitment?
  •  What do you bring to the sorority?
  •  Do you have any Greek (sorority/fraternity) members in your family?
  •  What are you looking for in a sorority?
  •   Do you know anyone at this chapter?  At this college/university?
  •  Do you see yourself fitting in at this chapter?

 

Questions Potential New Members May Want to Ask:

  • What’s your major? Have you selected a major yet?
  • What’s your hometown?  Where are you from originally?
  • How do you like <college town?>
  • What tips do you have for an incoming freshman at <college>?
  • Do you live in the chapter house?  What’s it like living here?
  • What was your favorite sorority social event from last year?
  • I know your philanthropy is ______.  What do you do to support it?
  • How do you get to know all the girls in the chapter?  What events does your      sorority hold to get to know everyone better?
  • What fundraisers did your chapter do last year?   Or I know <chapter> held <this fundraiser> last year.  How was that? Did you have a chance to participate?
  • What special events does your sorority do for Homecoming?
  • Do you have Big and Little Sisters? How are Big & Little Sisters matched up?
  • I know sororities help build leadership.  How does <this sorority> do that?
  • What does your sorority do to encourage good grades and academics? 
  • What is unique about your chapter? How is it different from others on campus?
  • Why did you join <sorority>? What were you looking for?
  • What do you like best about <sorority>?
  • What are the typical first-year expenses for sorority membership? On going?
